With the release of Shippeo's new mobile app (App V3), the process of managing resources will undergo significant changes. Previously, telematics and mobile resources were handled in separate tabs, but this will be streamlined into a unified system in two phases:

Phase 1:

  • The Mobile Fleet page, which lists all users linked to a mobile resource, will be renamed to Legacy Mobile Fleet.
  • The Telematic Fleet page, previously used to manage telematics resources, will be renamed to Resources. This page will now display all types of resources, except for users of the mobile app V2, who will still be listed under Legacy Mobile Fleet.

This will be visible on the platform as seen below:

Phase 2:

  • Once App V2 is fully retired, the Legacy Mobile Fleet page will be removed, and all resource management will be consolidated under the Resources page.

What is a Mobile Resource?

In Shippeo, a Mobile Resource refers to any resource connected to a mobile device rather than a telematics system.

Key Attributes of a Mobile Resource:

  • Mode (mandatory): This field is set to "mobile" to indicate that the resource is linked to a mobile device. When this mode is selected, specific fields related to mobile devices are displayed.

  • Identifier / Resource Name (mandatory): This is the primary field used by drivers to identify themselves within the app. It is also essential for pairing the driver with a shipment. The identifier could be a phone number, truck ID, or trailer license plate.
    Example: +336123412345, AA-229-BB

  • EDI Reference (optional): This is an external identifier that can be used by customers for pairing through orders-in/events-in processes.

Creating a Mobile Resource

Creating a new mobile resource is integrated into the unified Resources page. Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Resources page from your account.

Note: The organization's security code for the new mobile application can be accessed directly on the resource page within the admin panel.
  2. Click on Create New Resource.
  3. In the options provided, select Mobile as the resource type.
  4. Fill in the necessary information:
    • Resource Name: Mandatory field that will be used by the driver for app identification and by app operators to pair.
    • EDI Reference: Optional, depending on the organization’s integration needs.
    • Mode: Select "Mobile".

Note: When creating a mobile resource, it's crucial to align the resource name with your organization's preferred pairing method. For instance, if the pairing method involves a security code plus a license plate, the resource should be created with the license plate as the identifier. The same principle applies if the pairing method includes a security code and a phone number.
